CPU usage query failed!

When SysResources Manager starts I receive the following message, "CPU usage query failed!"

CAUSE

This message appears when specific counter objects have been disabled within Windows. These changes may be the result of manually editing the registry or third party software applications, which mislead users into believing that disabling certain counter objects will improve system performance. Enabling or disabling counter objects is not a function of SysResources Manager.

RESOLUTION

A free tool for turning these counters back on is available from Microsoft.

Download the Extensible Counter utility by clicking here.

1.       Download and install the tool.

2.       Browse to the C:\Program Files\Resource Kit folder.

3.       Double-click on the exctrlst.exe file.

4.       Select the Counter ID option in the Sort Order section.

5.       On the list of Extensible Performance Counters, highlight each of the following counters individually and make sure the Performance Counters Enabled check box is selected for each of them:

PerfOS

6.       Close the utility and restart your computer
